Having only joined MJP last September, we are delighted to announce that Roxanne Burness-Moakes, has recently passed the Certificate level of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) ACA Level 7.
From teaching to accountancy
Prior to joining MJP, Roxanne worked as a primary school teacher for 10 years. However, the desire to retrain to become an accountant was always there and in 2019 she began studying for the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting. She completed the course while still teaching but studied in the evenings and took her exams after school.
Teaching during the first COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 was the pivotal moment when she decided to take a leap of faith and leave teaching and move into the accounting profession, and we are delighted she chose MJP to do that!
True grit and determination
She says, “The last six months have been a steep learning curve as I have two children which has meant I have had to juggle home schooling during the most recent lockdown, working full time and studying for my exams. Despite this, I have managed to keep on top of my studies, and I have passed an exam every month for the last six months and completed my Certificate Level.”
And the future…
We would like to congratulate Roxanne who has now taken on the role of MJP’s Client Account Manager and is one step closer to becoming an ICAEW Business and Finance Professional which she should achieve in September.
We wish her all the best.
